Insulation (for Parents/Teachers)

This lab is a lot of fun for the kids and for the teachers. There are a few words of caution in order to make sure the kids stay safe:
  • The dry ice has a tendency to form gas bubbles in the water that can have minor explosions, they typically are not dangerous but can be very surprising.
  • The boiling water can be dangerous and could lead to burns if the kids are not careful, you can mix the water to cool it down to temperatures similar to a warm latte or you can impress upon your kids safety. Everything we do in our labs we stress safety and have had no issues.
  • Make sure the kids do not fully submerge the ziploc glove or it will fill with hot/room/cold/very cold temperature water which would not be good.
