Taste Glossary

Sense of taste - the ability of the body to identify specific tastes: salty, sweet, bitter, sour and savory

Sense of flavor - the overall flavor of the food, commonly referred to as a foods taste

Taste buds - the cell receptors that are used to identify the specific tastes

Sense of Spice - comes from our sense of touch and the cell receptors involved with feeling if something is too hot or too cold (thermo-receptors)
