Aerodynamics Glossary



Lift - can be described as the upward force that is acting to counteract gravity

High pressure system – low wind speed, relatively flat wind flow

Low Pressure System – High wind speed, more curved wind flow

Gravity – the force that keeps us and everything else from flying off into space

Drag - the mechanical force that that pushes against the plane as it moves through the air

Thrust force - is force generated by the engines to move the plane through the air
