This lab is fairly straight forward. I had a lot of fun picking out the different fruits and vegetables that should be used and testing how many anodes and cathodes we could put in a single fruit or vegetable. I will say that getting the light to light was quite difficult for many of the kids as they had issues with how they were connecting their anodes and cathodes. After they put everything together make sure to check each of the kids work as many will connect the copper to the copper and not connect it properly to the zinc. Once you have checked all that make sure to check if they have the light connected properly. Many LED lights are directional so besides making sure they have a good connection it is important to make sure that the direction of the LED is proper. I found that 3 lemons made the LED light turn on when connected properly. We also used potatoes, tomatoes, pickles and lemons (all the same and mixed) with good results.
