Parallel - means side by side

Series - means one after another

Series-and-parallel - means side by side and one after another

Half cells - compartments that separate the reactants so that the reaction can be controlled

Voltage (V) - is what makes electric charges move. It is the 'push' that causes charges to move in a wire or other electrical conductor. 

Reducing agent - the metal that gives up an electron

Oxidizing agent - the metal that accepts the electron

Oxidized - the metal that gives up an electron after it has given away the electron is said to be oxidized

Reduced - the metal that accepts an electron after it has accepted the electron is said to be reduced
